Kevin Al Perez is a queer brown guatemalan born and raised in Sun Valley, CA. Kevin parents migrated from the beautiful small village communities of Palencia and Saltan, Guatemala.
Kevin’s movement work began together with his mother who introduced Kevin to local community work that involved him in neighborhood council meetings, SEIU meetings, and PTA school advocacy work as a child. It is through these local involvement experience that Kevin was empowered and encouraged to practice community organizing and strategizing for social change throughout his lifespan.
Kevin became hugely involve in school organizing and social justice work throughout his educational career. Graduated from J.H Francis Polytechnic High School, B.A in History & Minor in Queer Studies in California State University, Long Beach, and a Master Degree in School Counseling with a PPS Credential in California State University, Northridge.
Kevin was a UCLA Dream Summer Intern with Gender Justice LA, AmeriCrops VISTA member with Youth Policy Institute, and recently a School Counseling Intern at Social Justice Humanitas Academy and Sun Valley Magnet. Currently, Kevin works with Educare Foundation & serves in the Los Angeles Unified Human Relations Commission for diversity and equity appointed by School Board member Kelly Gonez District 6. Kevin hopes to create a safer valley for all our chosen families, queer the 818 as much as he can, and turn up for social justice.
Kevin enjoys dancing, memes, smiling, and trying new foods.
