SHE • HER • HERS
Kat Lopez is a low-income Latinx bisexual woman. She grew up in Van Nuys with a very religious family and many lovely friends to count on. In spite of all the tight cultural rules she faced as a youth, she found comfort and inspiration in punk music. The Ramones and AFI were some of her favorites. Kat is a first-generation college student attending California State University Northridge. Her major is Psychology with a minor in Queer Studies. She is passionate about helping youth with Autism and determined to start her journey with the local LGBTQ+ movement, giving back to the community. Kat never saw an organization like Somos Familia Valle that serves LGBTQ+ people while acknowledging and advocating for their Latinx identities in all her time living in the valley. She is ready to contribute locally by researching and informing our youth members about California state bills that will impact our communities. She is joining us as our very first Legislative Aide!
