Director of Community Engagement
Kevin Al Perez is a proud queer Guatemalan, born and raised in San Fernando Valley, CA. Kevin's movement work began together with his mother who introduced him to local community work like neighborhood council meetings, union meetings, and school advocacy work as a child. It is through these local involvement Kevin was empowered and encouraged to practice community organizing and strategizing for social change throughout his lifespan. Kevin became hugely involve in student organizing and social justice throughout his educational career. Kevin graduated with a B.A in History & Queer Studies in California State University, Long Beach and a Master in School Counseling with a PPS Credential at California State University, Northridge.
Recently, he served in the Los Angeles Unified Human Relations Commission for diversity and equity, was part of the Resist Foundation Grant-Making panel which redistributed resources to frontline grassroots groups across the U.S, and in June 2023 recognized as a California State Capital Pride Honoree. Kevin hopes to create a brave San Fernando Valley for all our LGBTQ+ community members to thrive and turn up for social justice.

Sol Palacios

Youth Justice Organizer
Sol Palacios is a proud Non-Binary, Queer, and Chicanx Educator, Entertainer, and Activist. Born and raised in the Northeast San Fernando Valley, Sol has been an 818 resident for most of their life. In 2019, they earned a B.A. in Communication Studies, from Western Connecticut State University, where they also played collegiate softball, worked as their school mascot, and volunteered with the Student Athletic Advisory Committee.
Since 2016, Sol has worked with youth in various roles, including High School Softball coach, Residential Camp Counselor with the City of Los Angeles, Behavior Interventionist, and Teacher within LAUSD. With a strong background in youth services, they remain deeply committed to serving the San Fernando Valley community.
Sol proudly represents LGBTQ+ youth and young adults, dedicating their time and energy to help prepare them for new journeys, opportunities, and success. Their goal is to unite, support, provide resources, and cultivate safe spaces for youth across the San Fernando Valley. They are committed to encouraging youth presence, participation, and engagement in their communities.
In their free time, Sol enjoys traveling, performing DJ sets, doing stand-up comedy, and creating art. Their favorite outdoor activities include hiking, going to the beach, and playing recreational softball.
